5.3 Definition of the Sales/Usage Report structure where release data is available

When sales and/or usage data is to be reported using the MRBV of the Audio-visual Profile of the DSR standard, where audio-visual release data is available to the licensee, the following Records shall be communicated in this order:

  1. One HEAD Record.

  2. One or more summary Records of type SY01.03, SY02.04, SY04.03/SY05.04 or SY06.03

There shall be one or more summary Records for each licensor to whom the Sales/Usage Report is sent, to provide data on sales and/or usage relevant to that licensor according to the calculations made by the audio-visual licensee.

Which of these summary Records is used is determined by the commercial model the licensee uses, which type of use and the territory any audio-visual release contained in the Sales/Usage Report has been traded in. The summary Records are dscribed in detail in Part 8 of the DSR standard. It is permissible to communicate different types of summary Records in a single Sales/Usage Report.

It is recommended that the summary Records are provided in a logical order to aid human readability. This would typically mean that summary Records with the same Record identifier are not mixed up even if the Record identifiers may not appear in their numerical order. For example a sequence of SY02.03, SY02.03, SY06.03, SY06.03 and SY06.02 meets this recommendation, whereas SY06.03, SY02.03 and SY06.03 does not.

When using multiple SY04.03 Records, all of which have the same RightsType and sales context (as defined in Clause 6.5 of Part 1 of the DSR standard), those Records may carry the same SummaryRecordId if per-subscriber minima data needs to be communicated for each sales context, and across different subscriber types.

  1. One or more Blocks that contain the following Records:

(a) One Record of type RE03.03:

This Record provides data describing an audio-visual Head Release.

(b) One or more Records of type AS03.02.

Each AS03.03 Record provides data describing each audio-visual resource that is contained in the audio-visual Head Release.

Only an audio-visual resource that has been sold or used shall be included in the AS03.03 Record in this section of the Block. For the avoidance of doubt, if the Block is describing an audio-visual Head Release that has been sold or used, which contains multiple audio-visual resources, all the audio-visual resources that are contained in that audio-visual Head Release need to be included in multiple AS03.03 Records in the Block.

(c) None, one or many records of type CU01.02 or of type CU02.01.

Each CU01.02 Record provides data describing the musical work(s) embodied in the resource described in the relevant AS03.03 Record. Each CU02.01 Record provides data describing the graphical and/or literary work(s) embodied in the relevant resource described in the AS03.03 Record.

(d) None, one or more Records of type RE02:

Each of these Records provide data describing audio-visual Sub-Releases. These audio-visual Sub-Releases are either single resource audio-visual Track Releases and/or releases that the licensee has generated exclusively from the audio-visual resources that are used in the audio-visual Head Release. The audio-visual Sub-Release Records shall point to the resources they make use of. Only audio-visual Sub-Releases that have been sold or used shall be included in this section of the Block.

(e) One or more Records type SU01.03, SU02.03, SU03.03, SU04.03 or SU06.01:

These Records provide data describing sales and/or usage of the audio-visual Head Release or Sub-Release contained in the Block. Which sales and/or usage Record is to be used for a particular Sales/Usage Report is determined by which commercial model and use type the licensee is using. Each SU Record shall point to the audio-visual Head Release or Sub-Release Record to which the sales and/or usage data relates.

Figure 2 – Layout of the MRBV of the Audio-visual Profile where release data is available

Figure 2 depicts the layout of the MRBV of this profile where audio-visual release data is available. In the diagram the illustrative Block contains an audio-visual Head Release (the RE03.03 Record) with two resources (the AS03.03 Records). The first resource contains a musical work cue (the CU01.02 Record) and the second resource contains both a musical work cue and a graphic or literary work cue (the CU02.01 Record). The first SU Record then provides sales and/or usage data for a Sub Release (the RE02 Record) and the second SU Record provides sales and/or usage data for the Head Release (the RE03.03 Record).

The indentation in the figure above is solely for illustration purposes. There is no indentation in a Sales/Usage Report created in accordance with this part of the DSR standard.

The table below provides an overview of the order and cardinality of the Records to be used in this profile where audio-visual release data is available.
